Nick Geiman & Evan Greenplate win Junior Championship

Nick Geiman claims YCAGA junior championshipDaily Record/Sunday NewsUPDATED: 08/04/2014 09:43:47 PM EDT0 COMMENTS
Nick Geiman was crowned the 2014 champion at Monday's York County Junior Championship, presented by the York County Amateur Golf Association.Geiman shot a 4-under-par 104 over 27 holes to win the title at Our Door Country Club. He beat second-place finisher Gus Minkin by five strokes.Kevin Crumbling, Zach Dixon and Evan Greenplate each shot an 111.Julianne Lee won the girls' division, carding a 79. Greenplate was the 13-14 winner (18 holes), recording a 75 to best Logan Snyder by three strokes.

York County Junior Golf Association event at Heritage Hills. Two of our Future Champion participants
Matthew Weaver
and Bobby Nicholson took 1st and 2nd place in the 9 hole
division at Heritage Hills. Matthew
posted a strong 9 hole score of 44 and runner-up Bobby Nicholson posted a solid
score of 49.
Also placing in the event was Junior Club Champion
Brandon Greenplate
taking 2nd place in the 15-18 Blue Tee's Division with a
score of 79. His younger brother
Evan
Greenplate
took 1st place in the Boys 14 and Under Age Division with a score of
80. Robbie Stewart also tied for 3rd
place in the Boys 15-18 White Tee's Division with a score of 87.

Winning by large margin was Evan Greenplate of York, Pa., in the Boys 14 & Under Division. Greenplate led round one by seven strokes before kicking off his round-two effort. He birdied the par-4 hole No. 1 before going on to add nine pars and a second birdie for a final-round score of 78.“All I was trying to do was sink putts and not get ahead of myself,” said Greenplate. He finished a tournament-total 157 highlighted by 19 total pars and three birdies.
York Catholic's Nick Geiman takes IJGT opener
York Catholic senior Nick Geiman opened the International Junior Golf Tour with a sudden-death playoff victory Sunday at Hershey Country Club.After 36 holes on the East Course, Geiman entered a playoff with Peter Bradbeer of Philadelphia in the boys' 15-19 age division. Geiman won on the second playoff hole, a par-4 No. 17 on the course, when Geiman's shot from the fairway landed within a few feet from the pin. Geiman birdie putted his way to victory and recorded scores of 74 and 73 during the two-day event."It feels good to finally win on the IJGT," Geiman said in a press release. "I know I have placed second and third once, so it feels good to finally get a win against a good field."On Thursday in York Township, Geiman shattered a Springwood Golf Course record with a 66 while playing with his high school team.
Evan Greenplate wins IJGT Tournament
Hilton Head Island, S.C., native Evan Greenplate ran away with the Boys 14 & Under Division, winning by six strokes. Greenplate had a two-stroke lead after round one and shaved six strokes off his round one score to finish with a tournament total of 156.The highlight of the tournament for Greenplate came in round two. “I had back-to-back birdies on the front nine and back nine so that was pretty fun,” he recalled. His birdies came on the par-3 sixth hole, par-4 seventh hole, par-4 13th hole and the par-3 14th hole.Jackson Skeen of Johnson City, Tenn., finished in second with a tournament total of 164. Chase Phillips and Yuxuan Zou, both of Hilton Head Island, S.C., finished just two strokes behind Skeen to finish in third with tournament totals of 166.

York Catholic golfer Nick Geiman shot a 69, and teammate Joe Parrini was right behind with a 70 as the Fighting Irish won the Division III golf opener at South Hills on Thursday.Geiman's 69 was good for first place.Fellow Fighting Irish Andrew Forjan (75) and Jon Giambalvo (81) finished third and fourth, respectively, while their teammate Ryan Deporter, and Delone Catholic's Mario Statuto tied for 85 to round out the top five.York Catholic ran away with a 380 team score. Hanover finished second, shooting a 462 as a team, with Ben Hutton leading the way with an 87. Madison McDaniel also shot a 90.
