Hornberger finishes 2nd in collegiate debut at Colorado Invite
ERIE, COLO. – Craig Hornberger of Campbell University finished as runner-up in his first collegiate tournament following Tuesday's final round of the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.A freshman from Lancaster, Pa., Hornberger was one of only three golfers in red numbers in the 84-man event at Colorado National Golf Club.  He shot 73-72-70—215 and tied with Blake Snyder of Washington State (76-69-70) five strokes behind medalist Preston Stanley of Houston Baptist (71-70-69—210).Host Colorado 299-290-293—882) and Washington State (308-288-286) tied for the team championship at 18-over-par 882, one stroke better than Oregon State (306-289-288—883).  Campbell moved up five spots to finish eighth (315-297-291—903) in the 16-team event.Hornberger made 8 birdies and finished in a five-way tie for most pars (39) in the field.  Last year's Pennsylvania 3A high school state champion played the par-four holes even, and was 3-under on the par-fives on the par-72, 7771-yard Colorado National layout.During Tuesday's final round of 70, Hornberger made four birdies.  His second round included 16 pars, one birdie and one bogey.
